Support a Homeless Veteran and Her Children
Hello,
My name is Andrenel Frazier. I'm a veteran experiencing homelessness and a mother of 3 children (1,4 &10). We're in a hotel for one more night and have no where to go. I need a place to stay until my home can be repaired.
We have been displaced out of our home for a month now. My water tank broke in my home leaving us with no running water. I filed a claim with my home insurance company (American Home Modern Policy) on July 18th. I was given the two different adjusters names and number not knowing who to contact so I called both. At no point in time, did I get offered water mitigation or water restoration service. During this time I was using a carpet vac and a fan to dry up the water the best I can as I waited for their next plan of action. I have record of countless calls to speak to someone and left messages. No one would give me any information so I filed a complaint #22036658 with the Better Business Bureau. They finally placed us in a hotel on July 24th after staying there with no running water, breathing issues, the smell of mold and water damage to my bedroom. No one came out to my home for inspection until July 30th. Mold has now become visible. I sent pictures and I still could not reach someone to update me on the process. While staying at the hotel, they would wait until the night before checkout to approve me for another week or two. On, August 19th, the insurance company call me to say they denied my claim and we need to be out of the hotel that day. I could not continue the call with the adjuster because I had a panic attack. I had to call the veterans crisis hotline and my therapist to help me calm down. I can't go back to a molded home with no running water so now I have no where to go with my children. At this point, I am a homeless disabled veteran with my children and health/breathing issues. I need help getting back into my home.
I filed more complaint in various places which got their attention. On Thursday August 29th I received a call from the supervisor of my claim. On August 30th, I received a text stating they reopened my claim assigning a new adjuster to schedule another inspection with a different appraiser. I left a message asking if they will pay for our hotel stay since the claim has reopened however I didn't reach someone and no returned calls again. Finally received a call from the adjuster on September 3rd, just introducing the new adjuster but no answer on paying for housing. I am still a homeless with my children. I need help getting back into my home.
I pray this fall on the ears of someone who can help us or point me in the right direction of someone who can.
