Support a New Teacher's Classroom Library and Supplies

Update: I am opening up the fundraiser again due to requests for additional donations. I will now be using additional funds for additional classroom supplies, book shelves, and hopefully enough funds to provide students with a free book to keep for themselves! Thank you all so much!

Hello everyone!

I am a recent college graduate who is nearing the start of my first year teaching. I will be teaching 7th grade English at a local middle school, and I am looking for help creating my classroom library!

Most of you know that money is tight for college students, especially those who student teach. Student teachers do not get compensated for their work, which means that I was without an income for roughly 5 months. I relied on savings to pay the bills while I student taught, and I am still trying to get to a place of comfortable finances after graduating.

The school I will be teaching at does not have a media center, which means my 7th grade students only chance to check out books will be through my classroom library.

You all know the importance of reading, especially at a middle school age. I would love to give my students the chance to read a wide variety of YA (young adult) authors and genres.

Help me show my students the beauty of literature!
