Support a Park Bench Tribute for John and Toby
Donation protected
My name is Kaitlyn Elizabeth Weaver, and I am A. John Weaver's daughter.
There are few things in life that my Dad loved more than his dog, Toby, the golden retriever (and animals in general.) When he was able to walk, my Dad visited the dog park at Meyer Park in Spring, Texas every day of the week. It was his favourite activity, safe place, and solace. Dad and Toby went everywhere together, and after my stepmother, Anniece Hunt Weaver's death in 2020, they were each other's constant companions.
My Dad passed away on August 28, 2024 after a long battle with COPD. He was steadfast and loyal, kind throughout his life, and most of all, brave until his dying day. He made friends at every park bench, barstool, and figure skating event he went to; and to much of my Dad's pride, Toby was even more popular, becoming a fixture of many spaces in their neighborhood. Poetically, Toby passed away less than two days before my dad, and the connection between Man and his best friend is not lost on me. I truly think that Toby felt what was coming. It is my belief that Toby knew he needed to shepherd my dad into heaven -- as he did everywhere else in this life.
My goal with this GoFundMe is to dedicate a memorial bench at Meyer Park to John and Toby, supported by their friends and companions. In lieu of flowers, a bench feels particularly poignant. With COPD, my Dad would always find a nearby seat to catch his breath. Having his seat saved in this park forever, for more Dads and their pups (and loving children) to share a moment with, would mean the world to me -- and hopefully to him and Toby, too.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for hugging your parents extra tight today.
Love, this Daddy's Girl,
Kaitlyn
