I have been inspired by Spirit to make a pilgrimage to Charleston, South Carolina, to see the largest slave port of entry in the country (and also see the ocean for the first time) While there, I will journey to the Angel Oak tree on John's Island that is rumored to hold a lot of energy of the souls of enslaved peoples who hung from and lost their lives around this tree. This tree is the one in the picture above. It is anywhere from 400 to 1400 years old.
I am ready to receive, and am grateful for any and all blessings that will find us to make this happen. My husband, my 13 year-old and myself will make this journey together near the New Year. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and know that I am ALWAYS grateful for anything and everything.
I am in the midst of a pretty complex spiritual journey. It started about a year ago, and since then, I have been down many roads. Recently, I have been exploring the magical and healing powers of African American/Western African spirituality, Rootwork, and Ancestral Veneration.
During this journey, I have created sacred spaces in my home, released my parents' ashes (after 17 and 13 years of holding on to them), and have begun to trace my roots and compile a family tree.
One of the things I have to do is make this trip.
Thank you.
