Support a Teacher's Journey to a Doctorate

How do you sum up a life, and its purpose, in a paragraph or two? When people first asked me “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, I answered, “A scientist”—because I always wanted to understand things. Soon, I realized that I would rather learn things so I could teach them to others, and so a teacher I became. In the end, I chose biblical studies instead of science as a specialty, because I wanted to study the creation through the lens of the Creator, and not the other way around. I also studied English lit, because I wanted to try to preserve Christian Western Civilization like my heroes (Tolkien, Lewis, Chesterton, etc). My goal was to complete my doctorate, and teach at the college level, but things got sidetracked when my studies led me away from the church of my birth to Eastern Orthodox Theology, not the easiest thing to find a place to study, here in the USA.
I had been scraping by as a part-time adjunct teacher of English, but the pandemic has made getting by on that even harder. I felt God was calling me to go back for my terminal degree, so I went looking, and now, I have found & been accepted into a doctoral program in Orthodox Theology (here in the States), and I have a chance to start fulfilling my calling as a teacher of God’s Word; but to do that, I need a little help. With tuition, books, and other costs, learning can be expensive. The need is urgent. Tuition payments this term begin soon, and anything you can give would help. Your donation could make the difference between a man’s answering his calling, and watching it pass him by.
