Support a Trans Woman's Escape to Safety

I’m reaching out during a truly scary and uncertain time. As a transgender woman living in the US, Donald Trump’s incoming presidency has upended my sense of safety and stability. Republicans poured an unprecedented $215 million into anti-trans ads —spending more on transphobic propaganda than on the economy or immigration—all to attack people like me. With promises to roll back hard won rights, undo legal document changes, ban trans healthcare, and even criminalize simply existing while visibly trans, I can no longer imagine a future for myself in this country.

I’m planning to move to Uruguay, a country with far more supportive policies for trans people and a stable progressive government. This will give me the chance to rebuild my life in safety. Thankfully, I have a job that allows me to work remotely, but I need help to make this escape possible. I’m raising funds to cover costs for breaking my current lease, setting up a new home abroad, and hiring an immigration lawyer to navigate the process. It’s terrifying to uproot your life and leave everything behind, but staying here under these circumstances is no longer an option.
