Support 'A Yarn': Help Us Bring Our Film to Life

Donation protected
Hey there, we're raising funds for our feature film A Yarn! Every dollar raised on Go Fund Me will go directly to paying our amazing cast and crew.

Logline: Jesse and Kurt, listless postgrads living together in Savannah, have their lives unwound when a driven documentarian comes to town looking for personal but impossible-to-find videotapes. When push comes to shove will they take the next step or completely unravel?

Check out our website!

Who Are You Helping?
Thank you for stopping in and considering our project! The team behind A Yarn is a small group of friends and film professionals. We're spread throughout the US - in Brooklyn, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Savannah, GA and Boston, MA.

Since our team is scrappy and aiming to keep costs as low as possible, we're all wearing many, many hats. By donating + sharing, you're helping us take the next step toward our professional goals and create some fun, life affirming art in the process!

The Budget Of It All:
Did you know that even the cost of the indiest of films typically lands in the $1m-$4m range? The amount of time, energy, and people power it takes to undertake a full-length film is enormous.

On top of the cost of the cast and crew, costs like equipment, travel + lodging, costumes, props, insurance, and permits add up very quickly!

Fortunately, we are supported by a group of hugely talented and generous artists who believe in this project so much that they are willing to work for a fraction of what they ususally make/deserve in order to make this dream a reality.

Our largest expense will be filming on location in Savannah, Georgia. Savannah has a dreamy otherworldliness that is essential to our story as well as SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). SCAD not only serves as a central part of the story but will ideally be a partner in production to help bring talented student filmmakers on set.

Wherever possible we will be shooting in-studio and local to NYC to keep costs low, but for a large chunk of the scenes, filming in Georgia is a necessity. A beautiful, costly necessity.

We've already raised $7k via Indiegogo, but have decided to move our fundraiser to Gofundme because of their flexibility with goals, and ability to extend the fundraiser through post production.

The final goal, including post-production costs, will exceed $100k (considered an "ultra-low budget film"). Our first goal is $10k, which will cover travel, lodging and food for the team in Savannah.

What's In It For You?
Of course, supporting the arts is one of the noblest ways you can help enrich the lives of others and the world, we don't need to tell you that.

You'll be helping to launch the careers of some incredible talent. You'll be stimulating the economy. You will have a really, really good party anecdote.

Other Ways You Can Help
We know not everyone is in a position to give financially, and that's so very okay! In lieu of donations (or after donating!) every time you share this campaign or follow us on social media we have a better chance at success. Follow our progress on Instagram or check out our website where we'll give you a behind-the-scenes look at all the good, the really good, and the ugly parts of making an independent film. We can't wait to share our journey with you all!
