Abbey's cancer and dental care fundraiser

Please, allow us to introduce you to Abbey! This beautiful vivacious girl is 13 years young and needs our caring community's help! Abbey came into Springer Rescue of Ontario's care recently when she was surrendered by the family she’s known her whole life. Very sadly, this sweet girl has lacked proper care and suffered physical abuse. A trip to the vet taught us that she has a bad ear infection, a broken tooth causing her significant discomfort, hasn’t been spayed, and has mammary cancer (often linked to not being spayed). Abbey is in urgent need of medical care to address her health and get the medical help she needs.

Getting the care she needs will come at a cost greater than Springer Rescue of Ontario can cover at this time. We strongly believe we need to do our best and try for this girl. Abbey has a zest for life and as she's been settling into her foster home, she's made it clear she isn't ready to slow down yet. She has lots of energy and loves snacks, walks, meeting people and other dogs, car rides, and the odd stop at Starbucks for a Pup-accino.

Abbey's vet is well-recognized and does a lot of rescue work. The vet said that had she not known Abbey was 13, she would have put her between 7 and 9 years of age. We were also informed that there is generally a 70% - 80% chance of treating mammary cancer with surgery. It has been highly recommended that Abbey be spayed because by not doing so she is at high risk of other forms of cancer and life-threatening infections in her uterus.

We’re looking to you –our rescue community, friends, family, supporters, animal lovers, and kind-hearted folks to please help Springer Rescue of Ontario provide the care this sweet girl deserves so she can have comfort and a better life. We are grateful for any size donation as it all adds up! We look forward to helping Abbey with your kind support and are so thankful to have you be part of it! THANK YOU for your support, generosity and kindness. It makes our hearts and paws pitter-patter! Springer Rescue of Ontario wouldn't be possible without our community, support, and volunteers.

Abbey’s medical costs are estimated as follows:
1. X-rays and blood tests -$900
2. Spay and histopathology (testing of cancer lumps) -$1430 - $1680
3. Cancer removal procedure -$2620 - $4185
4. Dental procedure (broken tooth removal) -$1070 - $1580

*Please note that there is a range of estimated costs for some procedures.
