Hello! My name is Abigail (Abby) Mayer, and I have been selected to attend the Salzburg Summer Festival in Austria this summer! It is truly an honor to be selected, and I absolutely adore traveling. There are only so many singers selected from a couple of surrounding universities, and myself (along with some of my university mates) are a part of that selection! During this opportunity, I will get to experience:
Two private lessons per week in voice, emphasis on German Lied and operatic repertoire
Weekly coaching
Opportunities to sing in masterclasses
Daily German classes
Tickets to Salzburg Festival performances
Numerous public performance opportunities in and around Salzburg
Tours to cathedrals, castles and the Salzkammergut Lake District
A little about me: I am a third year Vocal Music Education student at Capital University, where I sing in the Chapel Choir. I am a Resident Assistant, sing tenor in my own barbershop quartet (Motion to JAAM), a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, and am currently balancing 19 credit hours this spring. I have also taken some Music Technology classes that will count towards a Music Technology minor once it is instituted. Outside of university, I sing at Worthington Presbyterian church, I sing as a part of the young barbershop chorus Prism (competing in Denver this summer as well!) and I also work as a party princess for children as a part of Amy's Princess Parties.
It is going to be an expensive journey. While the tuition costs pay for practically everything during my time in Austria, any extra expenses and flight costs are not. I am asking for help as I am still a university student and cannot have a full-time job.
