Support Abby's Study Abroad Opportunity

Hello everyone! My name is Abby Sutton and I'm in my second year at Linn Benton Community College, about to start my first term at Oregon State University this spring.

I have recently been accepted into a study abroad program this summer in South Korea! It's a two week faculty-led program starting August 21st - September 4th.

One of my biggest accomplishments is becoming a first generation college student. Although I'm very proud of this, it also comes with some hardships. I'm paying my own way through college and it is expensive. I'm a full time student also working a part time job, two jobs at school, and also currently doing an internship. I love staying busy but with paying for all my current expenses, I'm going to need some financial help for this opportunity.

While looking for possible study abroad options to pursue in my future, I stumbled upon this amazing opportunity in Seoul. There are many reasons why this program immediately drew me in. First and foremost, I have such a strong love towards seeing landmarks in scenery. Whether it is huge cities, traditional places or hidden jems, I love to see the culture of a country displayed within the art, design, and landscapes. I appreciate every place I travel to and I truly have a passion to not only see all of these amazing places, but to also gain the knowledge of why these landmarks are here, or how these places came to be. The second reason is that I have a deep passion of experiencing diverse viewpoints and experiences. I love to meet people and go places that have such different lives, cultures and values. I've never been out of the country, let alone to many states in the United States. I want the experience of just completely throwing myself into a different world, while also actively learning about all the differences. I want to see how people live their lives in a completely different continent.

This is a once in a life time opportunity that I truly never thought would be in the cards for me and I feel so blessed to say that it is. Any donation amount, or even just a share, would be so greatly appreciated and will seriously change my life and not be taken for granted.
