Support Abby's Urgent Dental Treatments

My name is Sergio Mora, and I am the uncle of Abby Moyano. What follows is the clinical case of my wonderful niece, Abby, detailing her medical and dental challenges and the urgent treatments she requires.

We recently had dental visits with my daughter, Abby de los Angeles, who is 6 years old. The specialists performed all the exams and x-rays. They were very concerned about an injury on her left upper gum, as she has an ulcer that is constantly draining fluid. They followed up on it, but it has not gone away and continues to grow. This is not causing her any pain. However, the x-ray revealed a large tumor, which is why they need to perform a biopsy to advance her medical treatment. The specialist in dental oncology is not yet covered by our insurance.

We must visit a pediatric oncologist. Additionally, another procedure is needed to correct her pyramidal palate, which affects her normal articulation and phonetics. A mesh or plate should be installed in her palate to arch it and take advantage of the treatment while it is still possible to correct it.

As a baby, Abby had pyelonephritis in her left kidney, and the treatment was very strong with a lot of antibiotics. This caused a deficiency of calcium and iron in her. Her teeth are not strong and are growing broken and chipped. Her immune system must be strengthened with treatment for the same reason. They suggest removing 3 molars and installing prostheses, which is painful and sad because she is in the process of losing all her baby teeth, and most of them are in bad condition. She needs treatment to avoid different traumas during her development.

One last thing, she requires maxillofacial surgery because she has a misalignment of her teeth and bite.

Abby de los Angeles is 6 years old, and this diagnosis was made in an office that Medical authorized for us.

We do not want to stay with just this diagnosis. We are raising funds to take Abby to a pediatric dentist in Miami, who has already reviewed most of her exams and x-rays, and offers us a more encouraging prognosis. There, we should perform most of Abby's surgeries. This way, she would not be without her teeth, which would prevent much physical and emotional dental trauma.

These are decisions and challenges that we have to face, and one of them is to retire from my job to ensure she receives the proper treatment and achieves everything before she turns 8 years old.
