Support Abdou and his family in Gambia

Greetings friend and welcome to my page!

My name is Abdou Kah, 19 years old, and I'm from in the small town of Sifoe, Gambia, where I live with my mother and four younger siblings, Jebil, Jatou, Penda and Soda. You can see me (left) with them in the picture :).

I spend most of my time with my family. In our free time, we like to play together, mostly football. I'm a huge football fan and I've always dreamt of being a professional player myself one day to be able to support my family...

As the oldest, I'm trying to take responsibility and I do everything that I can to help us get through every day. My mother is working hard to provide for us but it has been very difficult for her even more so since my father died 3 years ago.

We don't have much. It's a daily struggle and I hate seing my siblings suffer from starvation. We're all hoping and praying for better times... It's that prospect and my love for my family that drives me to reach out to people and ask for support!

As much as we only have very little, it really doesn't need much to help a great deal either. If we were just able to buy some rice and vegetables to provide ourselves with food everyday, we would be in a much better place already!

I'm grateful that I recently met Elias who came up with the idea of this Gofundme and helped me to set this page up so I can hopefully reach more kind people soon that are willing to help. We will wholeheartedly appreciate your support! Thank you and God bless you!! :)

Hi, I'm Elias and I helped Abdou with this Gofundme since I felt this was the best way that I could help him and his family from afar. I'm 24 y/o and a student from Halle (Saale), Germany.

Abdou and I have been in contact since November '23 and has become a friend of mine since. As I got to know him better, the desire to raise awareness for his situation and find people willing to support made me start this gofundme.

Update (!): Abdou and his family really appreciated the first round of donations (140$) which provided them with the necessary supplies for almost one and a half month! I have since managed to convince the christian church of Aach, Germany to handle the money transfer to make sure the donations go through a public charitable institution instead of my personal bank account. I hope this makes things more transparent for everyone! :)

To start the Gofundme, I have set a first goal of 500 Euro which is euqivalent to ca. 36.502 Dalasi. According to Abdou, to provide him and his family (5 people) with food everyday, they could manage with roughly 10.000 Dalasi per month (around 136 Euro) so this should be a nice boost for them for some time to come - depending on how fast donations come in. We did the first step, now it's up to you! :)
