Organiser's note: My name is Christopher Magson and I'm a friend of Nesma. I'm organising this fundraiser on her Uncle's behalf as GoFundMe doesn't operate in Palestine. The following is directly from Nesma's Uncle, Abdullah, who is the beneficiary of this fundraiser, along with his family: Azat Hassan Al-Amasi (Father) born 1948;
Nawal Abdulfattah Badwan (Mother) born 1958; and Abdullah Azat Al-Amasi (son) born 1999. Please note that the goal is in Australian dollars, in USD the goal is $50,000 which I've rounded up slightly to account for currency fluctuations.
"My name is Abdullah, and I am 24 years old. I am studying Information Technology, and I have always dreamed of a bright future that would ensure a decent life for myself and my family. In pursuit of this dream, I did not limit myself to studying alone; I also started a small business to care for my elderly parents and save money for my upcoming marriage. I invested all my effort and resources into building the apartment where I had dreamed of spending beautiful days with my family.
However, fate had other plans. The genocide war that struck us destroyed everything I had worked for and reduced my dream apartment to rubble. I lost everything: the project that was my only hope for building a new life with my parents, whom I devoted my life to caring for. Suddenly, I awoke to the nightmare of losing family members and the destruction of everything I had built.
Escaping the bombings was only the beginning of our suffering. We were forced to flee to the area the occupation claimed was safe, and we escaped to Rafah. We could take nothing with us but the clothes on our backs. Winter arrived, and we found ourselves living in a tent that offered no protection from the cold or the hardships. I was unable to provide the medications my parents needed due to severe shortages in Gaza, leading to a worsening of my mother’s health. My suffering was compounded as I had to sell part of our already scarce food to buy some medicines, yet I was unable to improve her condition
As the genocide continued, a new chapter of torment began. One night, the occupation forces bombed our camp without warning, despite their claims that the area was safe. We found ourselves amid the ashes, with everything around us burning. By a miracle, my parents and I survived, but our tent and everything we had painstakingly gathered were destroyed.
Today, we are living in Deir al-Balah, with nothing left. Our hearts are heavy, and we live in despair. With a heart full of pain and hope, I ask for your help in this unprecedented ordeal. I need your support to build my future and care for my elderly parents, as we are in desperate need of assistance.
Funds raised will be used for:
- Meeting the basic needs of the family while they are in Gaza. This will include food, water, medicine, blankets, tents, medical needs and other basic needs.
- Helping the family rebuild their home that was bombed in this war
- Providing the family with the rent of an apartment while they wait for their home to be built
The money will reach the family by transferring it first to an intermediary bank account, which is the bank account of the eldest son of the family in Turkey. Then the money will be transferred from Turkey to Abdullah’s mother’s bank account in the Bank of Palestine.
