Support Abebech After Her Daughter's Loss

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Mekdeas Haileselassie Hanebis, on Monday, September 23, 2024, after spending several months in the hospital. Mekdeas was only 26 years old and leaves behind her mother, Abebech, her sister, Momona and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Haileselassie Habebis.

During Mekdes's long stay in the hospital, Abebech was by her side day and night, dedicating herself to caring for her daughter. Though the Tigray community in Atlanta, of which Abebech is a member, has graciously covered the funeral expenses, it won’t be enough to help with the mounting bills, medical costs, and missed income. Abebech now faces the difficult reality of having to return to work immediately, without the time to properly grieve or rest.

We are raising funds to help Abebech cover these expenses, giving her the opportunity to take some time off work to mourn the loss of her daughter without the added stress of financial burdens. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and is deeply appreciated.
