Support Adina's Arctic Art Residency Journey

Why hello! I'm Adina Marguerite Pease and I've been working towards building a more creative life since 2015! From my past work in government with a daily drawing habit on the side, to my current work in creative direction & marketing with a side hustle as an artist & maker ; I've been trying to find my way to build the making of art into my daily life & into a realistic vocation which supports my family.

This year I've been accepted into my very first artist residency program and it happens to be located in the Arctic Circle of all places! I'll be traveling across the ocean to Norway and traveling up the coast to the island of Arnøya where I'll spend a week with a group of other creatives at a remote historic location called Singla. This amazing residency program happens just once per year and only handful of creatives are selected to apply - I'm immensely excited and honored to be one of them.

What's my plan while I'm there? It's simple; to observe and let inspiration flow.

Over the past few years from becoming a mom to selling my work at markets to exploring new mediums like pottery - I'm honestly not sure where my path is going next. I'm hopeful that this amazing experience will provide me with the emotional, mental, and physical space to find my way towards whats next.

I plan to get back to the roots of my creative journey and bring with my watercolors, pens, and possibly a camera as well. I'm not setting any specific goals for what work I may create while in residence, but instead allowing myself to be open to what the experience guides me to dream of and create.

Why am I looking for extra support in funding?

While the residency itself is covered, I still need to get myself all the way from New York's Hudson Valley to the little island of Arnøya in the very north of Norway. In budgeting my travel I expect to need approximately $2,400 for flights, $400 for hotel stays, $100 for ferry rides, and $100 for other small transportation.

To put it simply, this is not in my families budget and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I'd hate to have to miss. So I'm asking for help from my community to help make this opportunity become a reality.

When is the residency & is there a funding timeline goal?

The residency is in mid-July of 2025 and I'm hoping to at minimum be able to purchase plane tickets by the end of January 2025.

Ok, but what actually is an artist residency?

An artist residency is a program that provides artists with a space and time to work on their art in a new environment. Think of it as enrichment for artists - you get a place to stay & work space free of the stressors home along with new sources of inspiration. The very start of my creative journey was rooted in travel to new places, so this opportunity feels extra special to me.
