Hey friends and family my name is Unyque Davis and my mother in law Adrienne like many others lost her home due to the Eaton Fires. My mother in Law Adrienne and her daughter Jade were awaken by a hard knock at 4am on the living room window by a man yelling “GET OUT” as they both jumped up Adrienne opened the front door which led to Lake Ave and all she seen was flying embers of fire, explosions of buildings nearby and the winds that morning were as high as 80mph.
For Adrienne and Jade there was no time to pack ANYTHING but the clothes on their backs grab the dogs, the car keys and ran to the car and even as they were running, they were being hit with flying embers and hearing the howling of the winds. With no clue on where to go, they drove down Lake Avenue and seen all of Altadena was engulfed in flames.
Both are born and raised Altadenians including I myself Unyque and my husband Adrienne’s son Jeffrey are also Altadenians however, Jeffrey is in the military, we are stationed in North Carolina and all we can do is watch on the news our hometown being burned down to flames however we did not know it hit Adrienne’s house until the day after the house went up in flames.Adrienne was able to go back the next day to see if anything was still standing, and all of Altadena has been almost diminished, including her home. They lost everything! Memories, awards, pictures, and everything Military related that belong to my husband Jeffrey that was being stored in that house GONE!
Adrienne wishes she could thank the man who knocked on her window since they were both in a deep sleep from working a long night. If it wasn’t for him they would have still been in the house.
We are asking for help to aid Adrienne and Jade‘s displacement since they are starting from absolutely nothing and having to stay in a shelter at the Pasadena Civic Center Any help is appreciated to get them back on their feet and to take care of their 2 little fur babies.
