I am an Afghan girl who knows firsthand the devastating realities faced by the people of Afghanistan. My family’s life was forever changed when my father was targeted and shot by the Taliban. This forced us to flee our homeland and seek safety in a foreign country. While we escaped the immediate danger, I carry with me the memories of hardship, fear, and loss. Growing up, I witnessed the immense struggles faced by Afghan women and children—sexual assault, poverty, hunger, crime, and the constant threat of bombings and death. These experiences shaped my understanding of the urgent need for support and inspired me to advocate for those who are still enduring unimaginable hardships.

Today, Afghanistan remains one of the most vulnerable places in the world. Women and children are particularly at risk, facing violence, malnutrition, and a lack of access to basic human rights. Many families have no clean water, little to no food, and few opportunities to build a sustainable future. Education is often out of reach, and countless children are orphaned, left to navigate life alone in an unforgiving environment.
