Apolinario Joaquin Yatar, affectionately known as AJ and Uncle Apples, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2024, leaving a deep void in the hearts of his family. AJ was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched every facet of life. He had an infectious smile, a generous heart, and a passion for bringing joy to those around him.
Born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam, AJ's roots were deeply embedded on the island where he loved to BBQ, listen to island music and stroll with his cousins. He loved Christian music and the song “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban.
It is the family's heartfelt wish to honor his memory by returning his remains to Guam, a place he held so dear throughout his life. They have found solace in ensuring that AJ finds his resting place on the island that he always called home.
AJ's untimely passing is not just a painful reminder of how precious life is, but also of the silent battle many face with mental illness. His life underscores the urgent need for awareness, compassion, and understanding regarding mental health issues. The family hopes that AJ's story will inspire others to seek help and support for themselves and their loved ones struggling with similar challenges. Mental illness is real, and addressing it requires collective empathy and proactive efforts. As the family prepares to fulfill AJ's final wish, they also seek to honor his legacy by advocating for mental health awareness, ensuring that his memory encourages others to prioritize mental wellness and support each other in times of need.
AJ’s funeral service will be announced at a later date once arrangements have been made.
Thank you for your love and prayers.
Love,
AJ’s Family
