In the early morning of May 24th, a vicious fire completely incinerated Magnetiq Club Lounge in New Westminster, BC. When the firefighters arrived on sight, they had said within the building it was uncontrollable and worked 11 long hours to put it out and stop the spread. Nothing is left of the 100-year-old building and nothing could be salvaged.
Magnetiq Club Lounge had been in operation for the past 5 years, run by couple Aki and Thomas Myszka, with help from their son Darius. The pandemic caused them to shut completely for over a year as they patiently waited for the green-light that it is finally safe to reopen. Unfortunately, it hadn't made it through and they consequently lost everything inside.
Magnetiq had been a fun and safe environment to come to every weekend, and many people had built memories over the years with their parties. Sabado es Parranda and Rumba 7 helped Magnetiq be the home to a familiar and warm community. Let's show some support for the family-run nightclub that lost their years-long project in this awful and unexpected fire!
Further, for the record, there was no construction/renovation of the MagnetiQ Nightclub and the venue had been closed since March 15th, 2020. During the last few weeks prior to the fire, routine fire alarm inspection of the building were conducted and were passed by the Fire Department.
We would like to thank again the firefighters for their amazing professionalism and are grateful that no one got hurt in this horrible, destructive fire.
Anything would be a huge help to them in this time of uncertainty! Thank you all in advance for your support.
