Support Akm Alam and Quik Pix

Akm Alam, the owner of Quik Pix on Vermont, has been running his photography and film development store for almost 40 years now. Serving countless USC students from Roski art projects to Vegas invite disposables, Alam has grown entrenched in the USC community. He sorts through all of your pictures with no judgment and meets you with a unique sense of both amiability and professionalism.
However, with all the love and good nature in which he pursues his work, these last few years have been difficult for Alam. Roughly five years ago, Alam lost his son — a student at San Diego. He was also one of the businesses displaced by the construction of the USC village and was forced to relocate. With most of his clients being students, Covid-19 has greatly reduced the number of customers at his store. And now, after catching up this week, he informed me of his diagnosis of MND — the group of diseases in which ALS falls under.
He had tears in his eyes as he told me about how the students he serves helps bring back memories of his son, and that at close to 63 years old, he feels he has lived a fulfilling life. I am organizing this GoFundMe to serve as a gift to Alam, demonstrating support from the USC Student community and letting him know that he is not alone during these trying times. Whether it be for medical bills or lost revenue from his business, I know he will be greatly appreciative of the financial support.
This is hoping to build off Lauren Torres' fundraiser from July
