Help Alan Martinez Access Neurofeedback Therapy for ADHD

Hello everyone,

My name is Blanca, and I’m reaching out to you today for help. My son, Alan Martinez, was diagnosed with ADHD almost two years ago, which has significantly impacted his daily life and well-being. He really struggles with focus at school, and poor impulse control, which often times gets him in trouble at school. After exploring various treatments such as over the counter medications and prescribed stimulant medications, we believe neurofeedback therapy could provide the support he needs to manage his symptoms effectively.

I tried giving Alan over the counter natural medications before moving on to stimulant medication. Some of the side effects of stimulant medication that Alan has experienced are dizziness, stomach pain, irritability, tics, and appetite suppression. I've witnessed my son drop almost 7 lbs while he was on immediate release Ritalin; he was taking 45 mg a day just to get him through school. Appetite suppression for a child who's always had a healthy weight is scary because it can interfere with his growth not to mention the heart problems, high blood pressure, and dependency or addiction that these controlled medications can cause. I currently started trying holistic things for him so I believe that neurofeedback therapy along with a holistic diet and herbal medicine will be the solution to Alan's severe ADHD symptoms. I was referred to neurofeedback therapy by a chiropractor who also had a son who was diagnosed with ADHD when he was around Alan's age.

Neurofeedback therapy is a non-invasive treatment that helps train the brain to function more efficiently. It has shown promising results for individuals with ADHD, and we are hopeful it could make a real difference for Alan. However, the cost of this therapy is beyond my means; it isn't covered by insurance because it's not FDA approved.

Alan will be having a total of 20 therapies in Temecula, CA. We are located in Borrego Springs, which is 1 hr. 40 minutes from Temecula. Therapies are recommended twice a week for a total of 10 weeks. I have to work and Alan has to go to school while these treatments take place, which means that I will also have to commute for 10 consecutive weeks.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself:

I went to academy in November 2021 to become a deputy sheriff for San Diego Sheriff's department. Alan was under the care of my parents while I was away, but he started struggling at school with behaviors. Being the only parent that Alan has in his life and knowing that no one else could advocate and help him more than his own mother, I made the hard decision to leave academy and put that dream on hold to help Alan navigate through whatever was going on. My ultimate goal is to get him this neurofeedback therapy to help him become more successful at school. Alan is exceptionally brilliant and sweet child with so much potential. Once Alan has completed these treatments, I plan on going back into the process with San Diego Sheriff's Department to accomplish my dream of becoming a Deputy Sheriff and provide him with better quality of life.

We need to raise a little bit over $2400 to cover the cost of the therapy sessions and related expenses such as fuel. Your donation will directly contribute to Alan’s treatment and his journey towards a better quality of life.
