Hi, I'm Michelle! I'm hosting this GoFundMe for my dear friends, Alex and Jon. They are wonderful dancers, choreographers, friends, and teachers who recently became parents through surrogacy -- they will be amazing parents! Unfortunately, the surrogacy process is incredibly expensive and they have encountered challenges. They were victims of fraud and their surrogacy money was stolen during their journey.

I created a GoFundMe to support them a while ago, and I am reopening it to help them out in this terrible situation.

From Alex and Jon:

We are Alex and Jon, French dance artists and proud parents of Lily, our little girl that was born on November 2nd, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It is almost impossible to adopt in France for us, and surrogacy is not yet allowed in Europe for us. Our only option was to embark on a surrogacy journey abroad. We decided to go to the USA because we lived in New York for almost a decade and we wanted an ethical, legal and medically trustworthy surrogacy. We wanted to be proud to tell our child how she came to this world.

Although a surrogacy journey is challenging, it is also an incredible human experience. Our surrogate is the most caring and compassionate human being and we are so deeply grateful for her.

A few months ago however, this journey was made tremendously more difficult as all our money was suddenly stolen.

When you undertake a surrogacy journey, you have to put all your funds on an escrow account, dedicated to pay for the surrogacy bills. The escrow account company was Surrogacy Escrow Account Management (SEAM). It has been a renowned escrow account company in the surrogacy field for over a decade. Unfortunately, the current owner of SEAM stole all the intended parents who have trusted their money with her company.

All our money was on that account, as legally requested. We have been stolen over $60,000 ($62,192.87 to be exact). And unfortunately, we discovered that there are no laws in place that protect against fraud from escrow companies in the USA. Since then, we are living a nightmare as we are still responsible to pay for all the surrogacy related bills (legal, medical, travel costs, hospital, insurances, co-pays…)

We have been saving money for many many years in order to be able to start this journey.

We put all the savings we had into this, and for the past 6 years, our lifestyles drastically changed in order for us to save each and every penny for this journey. We also have taken on a loan, and sold everything that we could and let go of most of our belongings. These sacrifices were worth it for our dream of a family, but everything is gone now.

We followed the rules and did everything correctly. It’s so frustrating and unfair to find ourselves in this situation because of a crime we were victims of.

Today, we are experiencing great financial difficulty because of this as we keep on receiving surrogacy related bills to pay.

Our daughter is finally here, and she is perfect. It should be the happiest time of our lives. Especially after making so many sacrifices for so long to get there. They stole our money but also our joy, because we feel so helpless and worried right now.

We are desperate for a solution and for help.

If anyone can feel it in their heart to help us in this terrible unfair situation -if anyone can support us- it would mean so much to us.

No amount is too small and we are forever grateful for each and every support we may receive.
