Support Alexander's Eagle Scout Project

My name is Alexander Puckett, and I’m a life scout in troop 118 in La Vernia, TX. I’m raising funds to complete my Eagle Scout project. I have decided to build a few pollinator gardens for our local intermediate school in town. My family has been gardening for many years, and I hope to share that passion with these students.

In addition to the go-fund-me, I have requested donations from the community via facebook for the needed supplies. The money raised here will fill in any missing supplies that are not donated.

Currently, the school has a few garden beds installed for a variety of plants. My garden beds will be dedicated for plants that encourage pollinators to come to the school and help the other plants produce fruits and veggies. I plan on planting plenty of Milk Weed, Lantana, and various flowers. My hope is to use as many perennial plants as possible to help with the sustainability of these beds.

If enough funds are raised, along with the garden beds, I will improve upon the current watering system, which is a hundred-foot hose to water by hand. I hope to install a more automatic watering system with soaker hoses that will make the upkeep of the beds easier. However, the essential supplies such as lumber, dirt, paint/stain, ect must come before the watering system.

I’ve been in scouting since Tiger Cubs. The BSA has taught me valuable skills that most of peers have no idea about. The fact that I can camp, cook, and be relatively self sufficient in the wilds, seems to skillsets that are very rare with my generation.

I am raising the funds for a little longer than a month, or until the end goal is met, as I am already 17, and have to hurry to earn my eagle! My personal scout journey took a bit longer than I originally hoped, due to a move to a new city and the restrictions for meeting face to face during COVID.
