Support Alex's Memorial and Celebration

Hi, my name is Bernard and I am fundraising for my ex-wife and friend, Alexandra Kolb - known to friends and family as Alex.

Alex was born in 1973 in Cali, Colombia and made her way to the USA in 2004. We were married in 2006 but sadly the marriage only lasted a few years, although we remained steadfast friends until the end.

In the early hours of Saturday June 1st, Alex took her own life in a decision that shocked and devastated all of us, leaving us to ask why, then trying to pick up the pieces and move on. I have learned in the last few days that she had many friends and touched many people, a number of whom who have expressed how wonderful she was as a person. I am myself saddened that she will never get to be an "aunt" to my infant son, something that she was really looking forward to.

I am honored and humbled that Alex chose me as executor of her estate. Alex had expressed some of her wishes for the end, which none of us anticipated coming so soon, and there are no funds available in her estate to carry them out.

While those final wishes included cremation, I know that Alex's many friends deserve a celebration of life to show their love and devotion to her, and try to get some closure.

Funeral services are very expensive these days, and I have been given quotes of 10-12 thousand dollars for a very modest cremation and celebration of life event, which I am trying to schedule for Sunday June 16th, so our deadline to commit to the funeral home is this Friday, June 8th.
