Support Alimo's Mission to Educate Homeless Children
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alimo Uirissone Manuel Mussa. I am Mozambican Activist. I live in Mozambique, Western Africa, and I am an alumnus of the SUSI (Study of the U.S. Institutes) program with the U.S. Dept. of State in 2023, where I studied civic engagement. I am also a university student pursuing a degree in English teaching. In addition, I have studied applied leadership and community development. I have received a mini-grant from the U.S. Department of State to purchase student materials and teaching aids, and I earned a certificate of completion for this achievement.
For the past two years, I have been helping homeless children in my community, particularly those aged 10 to 17. I teach them how to write, do basic math, and speak English, healthcare, sports. I also help them reconnect with their families, find orphanages, or return to school. This project is being implemented in the Nampula Province of Mozambique.
I have realized that some of these children are not homeless due to family issues but because they are searching for better opportunities. I have selected a group of youth under 18 years old for a 4-month training program. This program will teach them electrical installation skills so they can have a brighter future.
To make this happen, we need your help. We are trying to raise $7,500 by December 2024. The money will be used for the following:
- $1,500 for food for the children during the training
- $1,000 to rent a safe place for them to stay
- $1,000 for transportation to get them to the training and back home after it ends
- $1,000 for medical assistance during the training
- $850 for mattresses and blankets so they can sleep comfortably
- $700 for protective gear to keep them safe during training
- $600 for clean drinking water
- $400 for a graduation ceremony and certificates to celebrate their achievement
- $300 for clothes and hygiene products
- $150 for tools and supplies for workshops and site visits
Even a small donation can make a big difference. If you can’t donate, please share our story with others. Thank you for helping us give these young people a chance for a better life!
