UPDATE 8/9/24
From Casie:
I am excited to share MORE good news on Alivia’s cancer journey. Alivia had her 6 month MRI this week down in Houston, the scans showed that she was CANCER FREE!!

We will continue our trips down to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston with MRI’s every 3 months to continue to monitor for the next several years.

So thankful beyond measure of the peace and direction God continues to give. We continue to be amazed and grateful for all the love and prayers.

UPDATE 4/18/24

We are so happy to share some good news on Alivia’s cancer journey. Her first MRI was overall great with low suspicion in a small area which we will continue to monitor. Alivia no longer has to wear the obturator and it is unlikely the area will require further surgical closure.

We will continue our trips down to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston with MRI’s every 3 months but are so thankful for this news!

We continue to be amazed and grateful for all the love and prayers.

UPDATE 3/15/2024

There have been several appointments since our last update!

Alivia’s appointments continue to go well! Today we learned that her body is healing itself with the synthetic skin that hung on for 2 months and 5 days!
We come back in April for the first repeat scans and to be seen by all of surgeons at that time.

Today Dr Chambers kept saying Alivia’s healing is “fabulous” he is amazing about how well Alivia is doing.

UPDATE 2/5/2024

Alivia is back home after her 2nd surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and again we have AMAZING news to share!

The team has decided no radiation at this time! Alivia will continue with very frequent MRI’s in hopes that there are no additional cancer cells. God is so good!

Alivia’s healing is not quite where they anticipated therefore a new obturator was placed during surgery. We will see how she responds to the current interventions before making any further plans regarding reconstruction.

We will continue with frequent appointments in Houston but thankful to be home for a couple weeks!

Casie said Alivia is one tough cookie and managing the pain well after this last surgery. Alivia also got a signed volleyball from the 2023 Nebraska volleyball team!

UPDATE 1/28/2024

Alivia is back home again after her follow-up appointments at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and we have GREAT news to share.

It’s official the pathology confirmed the surgeons got the cancer out with the first surgery!! God is good!

We go back to Houston again next week for a surgery to remove the oral prosthetic and create a plan for next steps.

The surgeons were very pleased with this outcome and excited to share this news with us. Alivia is still feeling a bit nervous for more surgeries and scans but she is a little warrior!

UPDATE 1/16/24

Alivia is out of the hospital. We got to come over to the Ronald McDonald House and will be heading home in the next day or two. The doctors continue to check in on Alivia and are very pleased with her progress in recovery. We continue to be hopeful of a positive outcome of the biopsy. We will be returning for frequent appointments over the next few weeks here in Houston at MD Anderson.

Alivia is so strong and has done amazing!

Alivia is out of surgery! The providers were able to successfully get clean margins without removing any teeth and took less of the hard palate than they were anticipating! They will be staying at MD Anderson through the weekend and will remain in Houston into next week to stay close to providers. We will update if anything changes. They did send off areas for biopsy but those results can take up to 10-20 days. The family thanks you again for prayers, healing thoughts, and support through this journey. Hopefully we can get Alivia home and really focus on healing pending results of biopsy.

UPDATE 1/1/2024
Alivia is scheduled on January 11th to have the cancer removed on her palate. The goal for this surgery is to remove the cancer and ensure clean margins where cancer was removed. An update after surgery for how it went and what forward movement will look like from there will be provided on this platform. In the meantime, please set your calendar to swarm Heaven on the 11th.

Please pray over the hands of the doctors treating our girl, for Alivia’s brave heart, and for the peace of mind and comfort of her family to support Alivia through this invasive surgery.

The family has seen your donations and are overwhelmed with love and gratitude for the people that have donated, prayed, and contacted them with support and helping hands through these beginning steps. Thank you all for your graciousness.

Hi! My name is Sarah Chamberlin and I am a long time family friend of the Cooper’s we all know and love.

I am heart broken to share that Alivia, Casie’s daughter, has been
diagnosed with mucoepidermoid carcinoma which is an incredibly rare type of salivary gland cancer located on the roof of her mouth. Alivia just turned 12 years-old and loves to play sports, practice her violin, hang out with famliy and make tik tok dances so as you can imagine her world has been flipped upside down.

There is a team of specialists coming together to provide the best care for our Alivia and while the prognosis is promising, the treatment is extensive to say the least. Treating this rare cancer can be very unpredictable and requiring a multi-staged approach. Alivia's team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas is composed of surgeons who specialize in cancers of the head and neck, reconstructive plastic surgeons, restorative dentists, and as you can imagine pediatric oncologists.

Because we want the best team of providers and care takers to tackle this with Alivia and her family by her side to help guide her into a successful recovery, acquiring that will take traveling to these specialists and staying for extended periods of time. And I think we all are aware that while their life is changing quickly around them, the financial burden can be overwhelming and unforgiving. With that being said, this GoFundMe is directly linked to Casie in an effort to provide ease of mind in the daily things that can pile on at home and allow her to focus solely on Alivia’s well-being.

Once travel plans have been made concrete, a meal train will be set up for the family when they are home. Please keep in mind that the family is processing a lot of information and emotions at this time and while questions, prayers, and reaching out are welcomed please understand that responses may be limited. There are several ways to donate to this family whether it be with financially, prayers, providing meals, or checking in on them. Alivia and her family are relying on their faith and the expertise of the medical teams to get them through this challenging time and are so grateful for your prayers, love, and donations.

*Please note that this platform will also provide updates on Alivia as she progresses through treatment phases.
