Help Support Aliyah's Bone Marrow Transplant

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

Aliyah Smith has been diagnosed with bone marrow failure and will be receiving a bone marrow transplant.

Aliyah, 13 years old, was born with Spina Bifida. Aliyah has had many surgeries, medical procedures, and hospital stays throughout her life. Most recently, this last August, Aliyah was not feeling well. After blood work, it was discovered that her blood platelets were dangerously low. Aliyah has spent many weeks in Children’s Hospital Omaha (2 hours from home) since. Aliyah has had 3 bone marrow biopsies, and it has been determined that she has bone marrow failure. Her last biopsy showed that her bone marrow is only working at 10%, and her immune system is attacking the new blood and platelets that she receives about every 3-4 days. Two possible bone marrow donors have been found. Aliyah and her mom, Kristal, will travel to Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado (6 hours from home in Nebraska), where they will have to stay for at least 3-4 months. Aliyah will first go through a round of tests, receive chemotherapy, and then receive the bone marrow transplant.

Aliyah’s family continues to be by her side, committed to supporting her during this challenging time. Her mom is unable to work very many hours at this time due to doctor appointments and blood and platelet transfusions that take up most of the day. Kristal will be unable to work during the hospital stays. This fund will allow us to rally together, providing support to continue to allow her family to be close to her.

Your generosity will help cover travel, meals, and lodging for her family and support for day-to-day expenses and bills.

Please join us in showering Aliyah and her family with prayers, love, support, and well wishes. Any contribution, no matter the size, means so much to them and is a reminder they have a great community of love and support.
