Support Aljolynn's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On Sunday, July 14, Aljolynn "Lynn" Sperber was in a fatality car accident driving home from Hale-iwa, Hawaii. She suffered a head-on collision from an SUV that was out of control and was lucky to have been extracted alive by emergency responders from the Nissan Altima that she was driving. Aljolynn was driving alone at the time of the accident: her son and partner are in good care.
Aljolynn has a long road to recovery ahead of her, having suffered a broken tibia, fractured spine, and ribs. She is with a terrific care team in O'ahu and will be going in for her first surgeries on Monday, July 15.
Those who know Aljolynn know that she is one of the most generous people around, bringing sunshine, smiles and rainbows to everyone around her. Now, it's our turn to shower her with that same love.
First: Send Aljolynn all the prayers, love, and healing energies you can. She welcomes them with open arms.
Second: If you're able, please consider making a financial contribution here to help offset the overwhelming costs of treatment; hospital stays; travel for herself, her son, and her partner; physical therapy; and loss of income. Even the smallest contribution would mean the world for her.
Third: Share this campaign with your network. Aljolynn has touched many, MANY people near and far and it's our time to rally around her in every way we can.
Fourth: If you're in O'ahu this week, she would appreciate a hello visit. Her family has offered space for anyone who would like to fly out to see her.
As some of her longest childhood friends, we created this fundraising page on her behalf, knowing that Aljolynn does not have the financial resources to cover the overwhelming and immediate costs of her care, much less those of her son while she is unable to work.
Aljolynn will be the sole and direct beneficiary of all funds raised, and all funds will go towards her medical recovery costs.
Aljolynn was born at Kapi'olani Medical Center in O'ahu, and had family on the Island. She is a single mother, and the sole source of income for her and her son.
Her cousin has been caring for her uncle, who has dementia, so Aljolynn came back home to help. The terrible irony of this act of service toward her caretaker cousin and uncle with dementia was met with a head-on collision after coming back from the beach on a Sunday afternoon.
As so many of us know, Aljolynn has a personality that lights up a room, and she is so generous to others. She is a ray of sunshine, a beautiful Hawaiian rainbow, and a warrior as a single mother.
We know she will put in the work to get physically strong, and show the mental toughness necessary to recover. But it's going to be a long road.
She does not have the financial means to get the care she needs on an ongoing basis, or to cover the medical bills, which will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars after her very serious surgery on her broken leg, fractured spine and ribs, ambulance costs, CT scans on her brain, checks for blood clots in her leg, 8-day hospital stay, and now several weeks of intense in-patient rehabilitation to get her to the point where she is able to get back on a plane to return to her home in Poulsbo, WA.
Her goal is to be able to walk again by Christmas. This will be an arduous journey, all while needing to provide for herself and her son.
THANK YOU, and MAHALO for your support.
