Support Allison and Elyssa's Move to a Safer State

Hello all,

My wife (Allison) and I (Elyssa) are trying to raise funds to leave Texas as soon as possible. We are fearful for our safety as a lesbian couple living here with the way the election results have come out. Both of us have jobs, but they don’t pay enough for us to break our lease, buy a tow hitch and trailer, and pay for gas, hotels, and deposits for hopefully our new home in a blue state; all while often scraping by to pay for our bills, groceries, insurance, and medication.

The election results have been rough on our mental health, the uncertainty of how quickly we could lose our rights. Not only our rights to be married, but also our rights as women to our own bodies. I also have to be very careful with my choices right now because I have been taking medication for my mental health for 8 years. I am very nervous about losing access to the Affordable Care Act and not being able to get my medicine at all.

I take mental health very seriously, especially because my mom died by suicide. I do struggle with PTSD from that time period, she initially went missing and it wasn’t until about 2 months later that they found her in the river. I love the heck out of my mom, she was my best friend and navigating life without her has been really scary. I hope I have made her proud. I have done a lot of healing with access to mental health care for myself, therapy, and medication management. My healing journey has not come cheap, but I am hoping not to backpedal at all. I want to continue making her proud, and not have a gloomy cloud over my head all the time again. I hope that with the promise of financial stability from this GoFundMe, we can leave all of this stress behind and pursue a better life.

Somewhere we can fit in and not live in fear of our rights being ripped away so quickly. This will give us a head start if we need to leave the country all together too. I truly believe we have so much good to offer to this world if we’re given the privilege to keep going.
