Support Al’s Fight Against Cancer

On September 13th 2023, our dad Al, was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer that spread to his lungs. He’s now unable to work, is very ill and requires surgery, radiation therapy, etc. (His surgery date to have his kidney removed is September 29th and prayers are much appreciated).

Al has his wife Cheryl, a granddaughter who’s only 14 months old, 2 daughters, and 2 sons who need him. His wife, Cheryl, will be caring for him and any financial support to help them is much appreciated while they navigate this challenging time. Sadly sickness benefits within Ontario are only 55% of a persons wage, leaving them filled with worry and unstable financially.

Al McPhee does so much for others. Friends, family, and people in the community. Al is well known in the downtown core for working at Salvation Army, formerly working at the David Busby Street Centre and helping the homeless. He’s always putting others before himself and doing anything and everything he can to help people every single day. He’s also well known at church and has a strong background of faith in God.

UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 18

Unfortunately during the doctors appointment today, they found more cancer in Al’s stomach. The doctor said he requires a blood transfusion before getting the surgery to ensure he’s healthy enough, due to his low red blood cell count and because he’s still losing a lot of weight since receiving an iron infusion last week. After the surgery they will send his kidney off for testing to figure out what type of cancer it is and then they’ll know what type of medication to use for treatment.
