Hi! My name is Alyssa and this fall I will be going to Iris Harvest School of Missions!
I found out near the end of August that I was accepted and will be going to the Middle East! The school will be in Jordan and Egypt along with an outreach at the end of the school, and I will be gone for about two and a half months from October 7th-December 17th.
In the spring of this year, I was sitting with the Lord, feeling like I did not have a lot to give Him right now, but told Him that what I did have, I would give to Him. Just like the little boy with the five loaves and two fish when Jesus feeds the 5,000, that I was willing to give Him what was in my hands.
The Lord began speaking to me over and over again about giving Him my loaves and fish, and without going into too many details of the story because this post would be way too long, this is how I knew that He was inviting me into Harvest School!
This is a school that equips and trains people to be laid down lovers of Jesus and to go wherever He leads them to see people saved, healed, delivered and set free by the truth of the gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit. I feel so honored that God would ask me to be a part of something so special and feel so expectant for what God will do in my heart and in the nations!
In all honesty, even in my excitement and expectation, going to this school is something I deeply wrestled with at first as well, because it was not something I’d had on my radar. But as the Lord teaches me not to value my plans, or His gifts and promises more than I value Him, I am reminded of the story of Abraham and Isaac.
Isaac was Abraham’s promise, the gift that God gave him. But I want to recognize, just like Abraham, that God’s gift to him in giving him Isaac was not just about him and God fulfilling a promise and a desire in his own life for a child, but ultimately was the means by which God wanted to bring a Savior into the world to bless all nations and all people.
My hope for my life is that even in the moments of wrestle, that I would recognize that God’s gifts and movement in my life are not just about me, but what He wants to do in the earth to fulfill His eternal storyline of reconciling the whole world to Himself. My prayer to the Lord in this season echoes the lyrics in a song I’ve been listening to recently by United Pursuit that says “I will climb this mountain with my hands wide open…There’s nothing I hold on to.”
I believe that as I open my hands and give God the little that I have, my little “yes,” my little life, that He will take it and ultimately impact the thousands with the saving power of the gospel, not because of my ability, but because of His limitless ability and what He wants to do through willing vessels!
If you feel led to be a part of what God is doing in my life and in the nations through Harvest School, either through prayer or financially, it would mean so much to have you partner with me!
Through the support of many generous people, God has brought in the full amount for my tuition and almost the full amount for my flights! Praise God! I am still in need of about $1200 for flights, outreach, and Visas. I also am raising support for my bills and living expenses while I am away as I have not found anyone to sublease my room in my apartment for the two and a half months I will be gone!
Please pray and consider partnering with me as I prepare to go to Harvest School!
Jesus is so worthy! So excited for all that He is doing and all that He will do.
Thank you for considering partnering with me!
