Support Amanda's Lung Transplant Journey

In November 2016, my mom’s life was forever changed when she woke up gasping for breath and we rushed to the ER where her medical issues were unraveled and rose to the surface. We found out in a matter of hours she had lung and heart disease that was caused by her Rheumatoid Arthritis. It had eaten away at her lungs and she was now oxygen bound and needed a stent for her heart. The longer we stayed in the hospital and the more tests were done, the worst things were looking and they weren’t sure if she was going to make it. Luckily she was able to recover enough to come home and has been fighting for every day of life she has had and has never given up no matter how hard and much her diseases have progressed and have always kept a positive mindset. We have hit the point in her disease where we are running out of time and options. My mom getting sick has given us a chance to get closer than we ever could have been before and we have never given up on each other when times have been tough and we’ve grown stronger together. I want my mom to have a chance at a life not tied to an oxygen tube and more years to come not watching them slip away. The only chance we have left is for my mom to have a lung transplant at UCSF. Only with a lung transplant, my mom could have the opportunity to live her life not attached to an oxygen tank and in all reality to live life at all as her disease has progressed significantly in recent months making it a battle to even walk to the other room. Without the lung transplant, the doctors have said my mom is looking at less than a year of life left if my mom has the chance to get the transplant she could have the chance at up to 12 years to live. There is nothing I wouldn’t do to have that time with my mom and have her enjoy life instead of continuing to slowly deteriorate. I am trying to raise money to make this dream a reality for my mom because the expenses that come with it are not cheap. After the transplant when my mom finishes in the ICU we have to stay in a hotel next to the hospital for 8 weeks after so my mom can be as close to the hospital as possible in case there is an issue. I will also not be working at the time in order to be my mom's full-time caretaker. Any help is greatly appreciated to give my mom and me a chance to continue our lives together as I don’t know what I would do without her and I know our story is not ready to be over just waiting for our next chapter.
