Support Amanda's Last Wish (Apoya el último deseo de Amanda)

I would like to say thank you to everyone who took the time to read my aunt's story.

My name is Catherine Mendez Ruano and I am the niece of my aunt, I would like to tell you about her and why this is important to me and all of our family.

Amanda Ruano is a daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, and is very important to many people in her life. She is a person who is considerate, empathetic, selfless, amiable, and overall courageous. She was born in her country Guatemala and came into the United States and has lived here for the past 20 years.

Unfortunately, for the past year her health has deteriorated. She has and is currently suffering with Hepatitis C and liver cirrhosis, at this point in time the doctors are unable to help her any further and asked our family to put her in hospice care but as of right now she is with her brother. As hard as this is for our family, we want her to be able to be as comfortable as possible, around her support system and anyone that loves and cares for her. Her last wish is for her to go back to Guatemala to be around her family, to provide a proper christian burial and to live the rest of her time there.

We are raising funds to cover these expenses and to provide my aunt with the opportunity to fulfill her last wish. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others can also be a tremendous help.

Unfortunately today, September 22nd, 2024 at 3pm Amanda Ruano has passed away peacefully in her brother's home. We will be having a funeral for her in Miami, Florida and she will be buried in Guatemala. We will be posting another update to when her funeral will and when she is leaving to be buried in Guatemala. We are so grateful for everyone who has donated, shared her story and God bless you all.

veinte años y ha vivido aquí desde entonces.

Desafortunadamente, durante el último año su salud se ha deteriorado. Ha estado sufriendo de hepatitis C y cirrosis hepática; en este momento, los doctores no pueden ayudarla más y han pedido a nuestra familia que la pongamos en hospicio pero ahorita esta con su hermano. Por más difícil que sea esto para nuestra familia, queremos que ella pueda estar lo más cómoda posible con su sistema de apoyo y con cualquier persona que la ame y se preocupe por ella. Su último deseo es regresar a Guatemala para estar con su familia, brindarla una sepultura cristiana y vivir el resto de su tiempo allí.

Lamentablemente hoy, 22 de Septiembre de 2024 a las 3PM Amanda Ruano ha fallecido pacíficamente en la casa de su hermano. Tendremos un funeral para ella en Miami, Florida y será enterrada en Guatemala. Publicaremos otra actualización sobre cuándo será su funeral y cuándo partirá para ser enterrada en Guatemala.
