Hello, for those you that don't know me, my name is Amber, and I'm the mother of an amazing 9-year-old girl that has been struggling with racially motivated bullying on the bus and at school since she's started in school. Last year the kids were calling her poop, poopy, almond joy and were asking her why her skin was the color of dirt. They would ask her why her mom doesn't give her a bath. They would ask her why her hair was like that. This school year we are not even a month in yet and Seven different children have called her the N word. Seven. They have also called her roasted/burnt marshmallow. They've called her almond joy. And a gorilla and a monkey. They know enough to not do this around the adults. And it Is effectively being pushed under the rug. The school is trying to tell me that it is about to bring changes and start to educate children about this but I have yet to see that. During the last racially motivated incident, My daughter clocked the kid that told her a slur, And she was suspended for 1 day off the bus. I went to the best company and talked to them and they said it was one day. Yesterday 2 different friends suggested that I get a body camera Or a microphone for my daughter. I found some pretty good ones on amazon. This morning , she went out to the bus and they kicked her off in front of everybody and she came back into the house bawling her pretty little eyes out. Somehow they added another day to the suspension without telling me there yesterday? Even though?
I was there in their office yesterday. And they assured me that it was just one day. The woman on the phone, Theresa did offer to make the bus turn back n pick up my daughter , but she would have been embarrassed to get on the bus After getting kicked off so publicly and her eyes were already beat red and she had tears streaked across her face, I wasn't going to make her get on the bus like that. I cant help but think that If I would have had a camera or a microphone on my daughter this morning when she got on the bus how helpful that would have been to prove what has happened to her. I'm trying to get her a body mic, or even better, a body cam with a microphone. I don't think at this time we can afford a lawyer but if there is any money over I am going to try to consult with one and see if they won't work with us. Below this I'm going to provide links of the live fb videos. Feel
Free to go online and share those.
My nine year old has woken up before and looked me right in the eyes and told me that it would be easier if she didn't wake up in the morning. Yall I love my baby so mf much. Hearing things like that out of the mouth of my 9 year old baby tears me little tiny pieces, and makes me ready to fight the whole world. Any contribution would be more than appreciated and if you can't donate because trust me I understand Is that financially We are all strapped out here....us included, But if you could just take a second to share this or just share one of the live videos. Or to call the bus company. I feel like any intervention on our behalf would be so amazing. I love you all for your efforts to make our Ammasiah Margaret know that she is safe, loved, and protected, and that she has a WHOLE ARMY BEHIND HER.
