Support Amy's Fight Against Brain Tumor

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Christi, and I am here trying to help out my friend and coworker who recently found out she has to have a brain tumor removed in July. I wanted to add a little background of her recent struggles to explain why she needs your help.

Amy has dedicated her professional life to healthcare, she started her career at Kaiser and worked her way up into management. Amy also worked the front lines of COVID by being an Operations Manager for a COVID testing company that spanned 5 states, to managing a mass vaccination clinic for Sutter in San Francisco. She is currently working as a Practice Manager for a nonprofit community mental health clinic in Berkeley Ca.

Amy was recently diagnosed with a large meningioma which is a brain tumor that is impacting the front left lobe of her brain which must be removed surgically and followed with radiation due to how fast it is growing.

In 2018 Amy was between jobs and her healthcare provider at that time thought she may have M.S. because she did not have any feeling in her hands or arms. During this time, she was unable to grasp most things with her hands. She could not write her name and had difficulties feeding herself because she could not keep a grasp on utensils. This left her unable to work. In August of 2019 she tried to walk but was unable to control her legs and went to the emergency room. She was evaluated and taken into the Operating Room the same day for spinal surgery. The spine surgeon told her that she had severe spinal stenosis and had she not had the emergency surgery a trip and fall could have paralyzed her from the neck down.

Seven months later her partner of three years was hospitalized in February of 2020, he was in a medically induced coma for 32 days and hospitalized for 5 1/2 months. During this time Amy drained her savings to assist her partner and keep their apartment and pay her and his bills and help him with his two-year recovery. Having depleted her savings when her partner was ill during COVID has left her in a bad spot and financially unprepared for brain surgery.

Amy lives alone now and will need to hire a caregiver during her recovery. She will also have mounting medical bills and as of now she is living paycheck to paycheck, and I would like to do anything that I can to help her out.

Amy is not only my friend, but she is also my coworker. She has had a long stretch of bad luck. In the two years that I have known her she was flooded out of her home and a tree fell on her car totaling it with her in it. She was a foot away from being crushed to death.

Amy has been through a lot and I would like to ensure that she receives the best possible care without worrying about the financial burden. Your support will go directly towards her medical bills and hiring a caregiver after the surgery which is set for July 16th. Any contribution big or small brings us closer to helping Amy overcome this challenge. Thank you for your love, kindness, and generosity!
