Support Amy's Healing and Recovery!

This year began with a catastrophic blow to our family when my mom, Amy, developed an extreme case of Covid pneumonia. By mid-January she became so sick her body began to shut down. She was taken to the ER in Riverton where she rapidly declined and could not maintain stable oxygen levels. After exhausting all efforts, she was intubated just hours after arriving to the ER. Due to a lack of space and adequate care, she was transferred via life flight ground support to the shock trauma intensive care unit at IMC.

For the next several days she was intubated and in critical condition. As a family, we had to face countless negative diagnoses and have faith that God would turn this around! After 5 grueling days, she was finally strong enough to breathe on her own and was extubated! We rejoiced knowing how close we came to the unthinkable, but that she had overcome the odds and the worst was behind us, or so we thought.

Over the next week Amy had made so much progress that she was able to move out of the ICU and into a regular hospital room. We began to discuss discharge plans and anticipated she should be home in the next 2-3 days. However, life threw us another curve ball. While her lungs had healed from the Covid pneumonia, they were weakend and susceptible to developing a secondary pneumonia.

Her condition completely regressed and brought us back to square one. On February 3rd, she was readmitted to the shock trauma ICU. The following day, she continually declined and made the incredibly tough decision to be reintubated and go back on a ventilator. As many of you know, this was crushing moment that left us praying for God to heal her lungs again.

Over the course of the next 12 days, the doctors began to put in 4 chest tubes in various spots to drain the pockets of fluid surrounding Amy's lungs. This gave her enough assistance to finally be able to breathe again on her own! She was finally extubated for good on Wednesday February 16th! She made rapid progress the next week and was finally discharged from the hospital the following Friday! She spent a total of 39 days in the hospital, 28 of which were in the ICU.

Amy is currently in a rehabilitation center to regain her strength from being sick for so long. She no longer needs supplemental oxygen and is getting stronger every day!

If you know Amy, you know she is the most supportive and loving person anyone could ask for. We want to take this opportunity to give back to her and alleviate as much stress and financial pressure as possible while she works tirelessly to get back to normal life! Please consider donating and praying for a speedy recovery! Thank you!
