NOBODY FIGHTS ALONE!

In recent days, our beloved family member, loyal friend, dedicated coworker, and most importantly, wife and mother, Carrie Wyten, has been given an unexpected diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer. In November, Carrie started experiencing digestive issues, and routine surgery was done to remove her gall bladder in January. A few days after surgery, she went to the emergency room after becoming jaundiced.

Temporary stents were placed after an MRI revealed a mass on her pancreas was pushing on the ducts and blocking the flow. Carrie requires a procedure to place permanent stents and a biopsy was conducted. Carrie was given a diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer. Treatment, although incurable, consists of a series of 3 chemotherapy medications administered every two weeks for six months for symptom management. She will be given 2 of the medicines in the hospital and then be sent home with a pump that will allow for the 3rd medication to be administered continuously for 48 hours. Just this past weekend, Carrie was admitted to Saint Vincent Hospital with blood clots in her lungs and all four extremities. She was given IV heparin, and the med port was placed for her upcoming chemotherapy treatments.
