Support Andie's Recovery from Anti-Trans Attack
Donation protected
On March 27th, my partner, Andie, was brutally assaulted by four men in an anti-trans attack. They attacked Andie outside of her workplace, while she was heading to meet me at the light rail station (we were going to go Mariner's opening day, first time for both of us). They dragged her down the street, kicking and punching her, and shouting anti-trans comments at her. When she identified herself as a vet (four years in the Navy), they said Trump got rid of people like her anyways. She ran into a local sandwich shop across the street, where workers and customers intervened and helped her.
Instead of going to opening day, Andie and I spent the night in the ER tending to her injuries. She suffered two black eyes, her two front teeth have been badly broken, and she suffered a small subdural hematoma in her brain. While Andie is healing, we are anticipating a lot of medical costs. We are still waiting to hear whether the VA will cover Andie's ER visit. And since she does not receive 100 percent coverage through her VA benefits, we will have to pay for dental repairs out-of-pocket.
We are asking for your help to cover Andie's dental costs and possible ER costs. We are estimating, in total, $10,000. We know that times are tight and uncertain right now, but any little you can contribute will help a lot. If we surpass our goal or have any funds leftover after Andie's medical and dental expenses, we will donate the funds to Seattle-based organizations fighting for trans justice.
The Trump administration wants us to feel alone and invisible. We will not be erased and together, in solidarity, we can fight fascism and come out of this stronger than before. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
