My name is Andrew Morales. I was the victim of a hit and run 2 months ago. Resulting in a concussion and a broken collar bone. After having collarbone surgery witch resulted in me having a metal plate and screws inserted to repair the break. 2 week after surgery I developed a staff infection. Resulting in me having to get a second surgery. The hardware was removed and they closed the wound to heal. While in the hospital healing I contracted a second staff infection resulting in a 3rd surgery. The 3rd surgery they left the wound open and put a medivack to remove the bacteria. Last Tuesday I had a 4th surgery to put back the metal plate and screws plus a muscle flap and drainage tube. Friday they removed the medivack to reviel what you see in the profile picture. Tomorrow makes a month that I'm in the hospital. I have nys medicade that the state of Illinois does not honor. I have applied for Medicaid in Illinois that has not been approved. I lost my job and don't know how I can catch up on my bills and am facing eviction as now I am 2 months behind on all my bills. When I get discharged from the hospital and so far there is no discharge date as of yet I will need to be on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. The hospital is talking about sending me to a nursing home until my Medicaid is approved. The case worker here in the hospital applied for Medicaid on my behalf 1 month ago. They say it could take up to 90 days to be approved. I am asking for any help possible. To avoid going to a nursing home and possibly contracting another staff infection. I have an option to pay out of pocket for my antibiotics that I will take thru a PICC line in my left arm. Antibiotics will cost 264.00 a week and I would need to have my blood checked every 10 days. That is a separate cost. I have never asked for help before and am kind of embarrassed. If anyone can please help as I don't know what else to do. It would mean everything to me as I'm scared to death to contract another staff infection that could be fatal. Please and thank you in advance for any help given to me
