Support Andrew's Battle Against Cancer

Donation protected
hi I'm Nielmar who's seeking help for my Husband, Andrew who's facing multiple medical conditions. Advanced Cancer-Spinal Cord Tumor and Brain Tumor-Pituitary Macroadenoma.

"In August 2017, my husband was diagnosed with a rare and slow progressive spinal cord tumor, astrocytoma, which was unable to be fully removed due to its entanglement with the nerves. Despite the challenges, he was able to maintain mobility and walk with the aid of a cane or walker for nearly two years. However, by the end of 2019, symptoms began to return, and we sought medical help once again. Unfortunately, the tumor had grown back, and subsequent treatments have only provided temporary relief.

After moving to South Dakota in 2022, we struggled to find a course of treatment that worked, and his condition continued to deteriorate. In recent months, his legs became severely swollen, despite medication, and he experienced painful spasms and back pain. We were referred to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to see a Neurology, but the doctor said that the damage has been done and it's going to be too late to do a surgery. We then got referred to another doctor, a Neurosurgeon in Mayo Clinic and straight told us that the best option for now is radiation therapy. A series of appointments with neurologists, oncologists, and radiologists led to a diagnosis of advanced cancer, and we were informed that surgery was no longer an option.

In October 2023, we were introduced to the Intrathecal Pump system, which has significantly improved his pain management and reduced spasms. However, this treatment has also taken away his mobility in his lower extremities. In November 2023, he began radiation therapy and chemotherapy, which was accompanied by in-patient physical rehab and occupational therapy. He was doing really good for good 4 months with continues medications and series of out-patient physical therapy.

Tragically, on May 20th, 2024, my husband's condition took a drastic turn for the worse. He began experiencing severe spasms and seizures, which have persisted despite numerous trips to the emergency room. After extensive testing and treatment, we finally received a diagnosis of a lesion on his brain's sella region, which is likely a benign tumor called Macroadenoma.

We are now waiting for an appointment with an ophthalmologist and endocrinologist to assess the potential impact on his vision and hormone levels. Once we have all the necessary information, we will meet with the surgeon who will perform the surgery. We are looking at the second or third week of June for the procedure.

We have been fighting this battle for years, and the medical bills have been piling up. My husband is no longer working since 2018 due to his medical condition, and he is only receiving a small disability check from the state once a month. As his primary caregiver, I have been unable to work for a significant amount of time to help take care of him. We are facing financial hardship and are in desperate need of financial support to help cover the mounting medical bills and ongoing treatment costs.
We are seeking financial support to help cover the following expenses:
Ongoing medical treatment and procedures
Medications and prescriptions
Daily living expenses, including rent, utilities, and car payments
Any additional expenses related to my husband's care and treatment
Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated and will go directly towards helping us cover these expenses. We will keep you updated on my husband's medical journey and will be grateful for any support you can provide during this difficult time.

Your generosity will make a huge difference in our lives. Thank you so much for considering a donation.
