Support Andy Maddox on his Cancer Journey

I'm raising funds for my father's cancer journey. Andy–or Andrew Maddox–has been diagnosed with Gastro Esophageal Cancer, and it has progressed rapidly to Stage 3. He has been in the hospital multiple times since February, with over 40 days admitted. He's lost over 70 pounds since his diagnosis, because he can't swallow food or drink.

My parents have good insurance through my mom's teaching job, but they're living week to week and have lost my dad's income. He was receiving some income under the Mass Family Medical Leave Act, but that has now expired. As his Oncologist said, "beating cancer is your job, now." Unfortunately, it doesn't pay anything.

Dad is applying for Social Security Disability, as this is going to be a long-term battle, but that will take up to a year for approval.

If you know my dad, he's been generous throughout his life. He is a long-time member of Rockport Rotary Club, and through them he's given time to support Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Rotary Youth Exhange, Fourth of July in Rockport, and he went on a three-week Rotary trip to improve science education in the Philippines. He has spent years working for non-profits as a consultant and as a direct employee.
