Support Anitra and Nicholas as they Grieve Jaden
Donation protected
Please consider supporting Anitra and Nicholas Rice as they grieve the loss of their beloved son and brother, Jaden Keith Rice. Jaden passed into eternity on Monday, April 19, 2021 after a battle with depression. Anitra describes Jaden as a good and loving friend who helped others who were in pain and was always adventurous enough to try new food. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and community. There will certainly be unexpected expenses to cover the cost of Jaden's funeral. Also, because of COVID-19, some of Anitra's family will not be able to travel to Michigan to be at the funeral and she hopes that she and Nicholas can fly to be with them soon. Additionally, after another unexpected passing of a child, Anitra may need to take time off of work to heal, process and grieve. In this case she will need supplemental income to cover expenses.
Anitra is feeling the pain of grieving two of her sons who fought hard, good fights with mental illness. As many know, she is in graduate school for counseling and mental health, is an advocate for the mental health of black men in the community and has started a foundation (The F.O.L Foundation) to "bring emotional, financial, mental and social healing to people of color who have been marginalized and overlooked." Specifically, Anitra and a friend/filmmaker are hoping to make a film to share Jaden and Josiah's stories, raise awareness about F.O.L. foundation and destigmatize mental health among black men.
Anitra is crying out to the Lord in sadness. She deeply misses Jaden and Josiah. But, in the midst of her pain she still manages to proclaim the goodness of her Abba, God, and takes solace in knowing her sons are now together in eternity, with Jesus.
If you are able, please consider donating to the expenses and dreams of the Rice family in their time of grief and pain. Let us come together to remind them that we are with them in this time and love them so much.
