Support Anna Welch's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Update #3 8/8/2024

Anna was successfully moved to a rehab facility last week. She has been doing a great job with her PT and has been approved to move home early next week, where she will continue therapy. Though she is still non weight-bearing and still in a neck brace, Anna remains positive and is ecstatic about finally being able to go home.

As always, thank you for the continued support. We have riding and silent auction fundraisers in the works. Event dates will be posted soon. Please contact us if you have any items to donate. Thank you.

Update 7/25/2024

To reach and surpass both goals in just 2 days really speaks to the community we have: THANK YOU ALL for your generosity.

Anna and Matt have been moved to tears by the outpouring support and extend their gratitude to everyone.

ANNA UPDATE:

While the the excitement of reaching our initial goals is elating, we have to bring things back to reality.

The good news: Anna has been moved out the ICU and into a normal hospital room.

The reality of traumatic injury: Anna will be non -weight bearing on both legs for an estimated 6 weeks and in a neck brace for an estimated 3 months. The extent of some of her injuries may take several years to heal. Her body is working hard to repair itself, and Doctors are happy with her progress, however, this is going to be a long, slow, tedious recovery.

SO, we have decided to up our goal one last time to $100,000. We also have some great fundraisers in the works.

Thank you all for the heartfelt messages, offers to help and continued support.

Update 7/23/2024

Firstly, thank you SO much for the outpouring support and donations. In not even 24 hours, we have almost reached our initial goal of $35,000. We truly live in a wonderful community, thank you!

ON TO ANNA: While Anna will be moved out of the ICU within a few days, her doctors are anticipating at least a month’s stay in the hospital, followed by extensive rehab. With that report, we are increasing our original goal to $50,000.

We also have some other fundraising events in the works. Please keep checking back, we will try to update on here regularly.

As a career equestrian, Anna Welch has dedicated her life to being a rider, trainer, coach and competitor. She is a well-respected professional in the Maine, New England and Aiken, SC communities. Anna’s dedication to her students and their horses is something everyone should experience from a coach.

Sadly, in a devastating accident on July 18th, a client’s horse landed on top of Anna, resulting in severe trauma and multiple fractures to her body. Anna underwent surgery on July 19th at Maine Medical Center and is now in the ICU.

Though Anna is physically fit and her doctors are happy with the surgical results, it is unknown how long Anna’s recovery process will be, moreover, when she will be able to start riding and/or coaching again, which are her sole sources of income.

PLEASE GIVE.
Any donation big or small to go towards medical expenses and lost income would be immensely beneficial to the Welch family.

PLEASE SHARE.
We know Anna has many connections and friends in the eventing and riding community. Please help us spread the word and bring positive energy her way.
