Support Anthony Dixon's Battle with Leukemia
Donation protected
Hello Everyone! I’m raising funds for a dear friend of mine, Anthony Dixon, who is in need of some medical support during this time. Anthony has been a musician at Disney for over 40 years. I get the joy to work with him daily as Jack Be Nimble at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue as our beloved banjo player. He has been bringing magic on stage to our wonderful guests and backstage to his fellow cast members for many years, and I know he can’t wait to come back and play with us soon.
Recently, Anthony has been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), which is a type of cancer that starts in white blood cells in the bone marrow. His treatments started with transfusions to boost his red blood cells and now also include chemotherapy.
The discovery process of proper diagnosis and treatment has been difficult. His body rejected the first round of chemo, then he landed in the hospital for a week with neutropenic sepsis, whooping cough, and pneumonia. The good news is that treatments are working—antibiotics for his hospital stay and chemo & transfusions for the leukemia. The expensive chemo treatments will continue throughout the year.
Anthony has been the stage “dad,” the helping hand, the rock of support… let’s return that energy now to help him get through this tough year of treatments. His medical bills and copays for the chemo are insane. He has requested discounts from the pharmaceutical company, but that is pending. Any help we can give him in the meantime would mean so much.
