Support Anthony, Susie and Elias after California fire
Donation protected
My name is Emily, I’m devastated to share that my brother Anthony, his wife Susie, and 3 year old son Elias lost their Altadena home last week in the ongoing California fires. When they were forced to evacuate, they brought almost nothing with them but the clothes on their backs, a few things for Elias, and their cat. With many fires in their surrounding neighborhood, they quickly left not knowing it was the last time they would ever set foot in the place that housed everything they owned and their cherished memories.
A home is made up of more than the four walls that surround it. It was their safe haven, a place where they nurtured their family, a result of their hard work and sacrifice, the place where they made a living to support their family. My brother worked full time while in college and graduate school. During this time he always found ways to help me and my parents whether it was with my tuition or paying for things to make my parents more comfortable when he could. He eventually saved enough for a down payment to buy himself a home where he lived for the last 12 years. It’s the home he lived in when he met his wife Susie, married, and had their sweet child Elias. It wasn’t just his house, it was also his office where he worked remotely full time to support his family. Susie is a dedicated piano teacher who converted their most spacious, well lit bedroom into a piano classroom for her students. This is where she lovingly taught and shared her passion, piano, with children and adults in her community.
Susie and Anthony have always been the most humble and thoughtful people I know who welcome friends and family into their home and generously shared with others. They have never needed much or wanted to asked for anything from anyone. They are so grateful that their family is safe. They are immensely moved by family, friends, community that have reached out and asked for ways to support them, which is why I am starting this goFUNDme page. Like countless others who have been impacted by these fires, they will face many unmet needs and gaps not covered by insurance and FEMA. This fund will go towards those gaps. It will be a very tough and lengthy road as they navigate their next steps to rebuild their lives and a sense of home. So I humbly ask those who would like to please consider supporting my family as they get back on their feet by donating any amount or sharing with your network of people who might be kind enough to help.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!
Sincerely,
Emily, Anthony, Susie, Elias
