Dear Friends,
The catastrophe in the Appalachian Mountains is dire. 1000s of people are unaccounted for. Entire towns and communities have been washed away, and thousands are trapped without food, water and electricity. Many have lost their homes and jobs. We, The Olvis Foundation and the people of the Appalachian Mountains, are asking for your help. The Olvis Foundation is a private think tank based in North Carolina, addressing environmental and social issues. Although we have a stellar 15-year history, we are not a professional charity or fundraising organization. Therefore, we are utilizing the GoFundMe platform to reach as many people as we can, to answer the desperate call for help in Western North Carolina. We cannot, and will not, stand down in this unprecedented time of need. We are anticipating a future need for temporary housing as well. Most of these Families do not carry flood insurance, and many insurers will not cover their losses. This is unthinkable, but true.
Donations are being turned away by FEMA. We will partner with other groups and find a way to get aid through. We will not stand down.
The Olvis Foundation is partnering with Salt LLC Construction and Green Chapel Farms to move as much food, water, clothing, and materials to this area as possible, as well as arraigning temporary housing.
