APV School is a model school and teacher training center dedicated to providing a holistic, mindful and inclusive education (nursery - 8th grade) to the mountain children of Uttarakhand, India. Most of our children are Below the Poverty Line, and without APV, would not have access to quality education. We need your help expanding and supporting our 17 years of service to these children and the larger community with our annual fundraiser. Due to Covid, we have not been able to raise funds with our ecotourism ventures, and the school needs support now more than ever! We hope that APV can become sustainable through generous and diverse donors and friends dedicated to the thriving of the inner spiritual and outer lives of our children. We are hoping to raise this amount within 1 year.

This Education Fund will help support:

Investment in the only primary school print library in the entire region via the purchase of new books in hindi and english
Investment to make our new digital library available to former alumni, children from other schools, and parents as an outstanding Community Education Center
Supplementing our teachers' salaries (right now teachers receive a small stipend, but this is often not enough to take care of their family needs, and higher education)
Investing in art supplies for painting
Creating a girl's education fund for our alumni who want to go to college but do not have the means
Installing a new playground that is safe and large enough for our younger children. Right now we only have 1 old metal slide
Upgrading our KG-2nd classrooms to make them more play friendly
Investing in solar capabilities for the school as we often have blackouts

Our goal as a community of educators is to help each other grow and evolve through the tenets of mindfulness and compassion, and to provide the village children of this region, from ages 3-15, with an education that teaches them self-awareness, creativity, confidence and love for each other. Our children are given tools that awaken their inherent potential through:

Creative practical methods that often utilize natural materials
Daily morning music and prayers
Daily meditation
Deep immersion with nature
A culture of community and inclusiveness rather than competition and fear driven results
Inspiring responsibilty and agency in our students - students are responsible for such things as running the library, opening the school to get ready for morning assembly, and caring for each other as a big family
