Support Ariana Vasquez and Her Mother After the Eaton Fire

To my friends, family, and kind-hearted community,

I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share the devastating story of my dear friend, Ariana Vasquez, who has recently lost her home and many of her belongings in the Eaton Fire.

Ariana and I have been friends since 1st grade, when I started attending St. Andrew Catholic School in Pasadena. We’ve shared so many fun memories over the years, and I’ve watched her grow into the strong, kind, and compassionate person she is today. Ariana has always been a pillar of her community in the Pasadena/Altadena area, where she also attended Alverno High School. She currently works at Pasadena Highlands, a senior living community offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care.

As you can imagine, this loss has been incredibly difficult for her. Ariana and her mother were forced to evacuate quickly, and while she did everything she could to secure her cats, she wasn’t able to bring them with her. After the fire, she spent time looking for her cats and the urn containing her father’s ashes, who she lost in 2020, but unfortunately, it was not recoverable at the time. She’s understandably feeling overwhelmed, and while she’s hesitant to ask for help, I want to create a space where people can support her during this tough time. These funds will assist her and her mother with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid.

A mis amigos, familia y a la comunidad de buen corazón,

Me dirijo a ustedes con el corazón triste para compartir la devastadora historia de mi querida amiga, Ariana Vasquez, quien recientemente perdió su hogar y muchas de sus pertenencias en el incendio de Eaton.

Ariana y yo somos amigas desde primer grado, cuando empecé a asistir a la Escuela Católica San Andrés en Pasadena. Hemos compartido tantos recuerdos divertidos a lo largo de los años, y he visto cómo ha crecido hasta convertirse en la persona fuerte, amable y compasiva que es hoy. Ariana siempre ha sido un pilar de su comunidad en el área de Pasadena/Altadena, donde también asistió a la escuela secundaria Alverno.

Como pueden imaginar, esta pérdida ha sido increíblemente difícil para ella. Ariana tuvo que evacuar rápidamente, y aunque hizo todo lo posible por asegurar a sus gatos, no pudo llevarlos con ella. Después del incendio, pasó tiempo buscando a sus gatos y la urna que contenía las cenizas de su padre, a quien perdió en 2020, pero lamentablemente, no pudo recuperarlos en ese momento. Es comprensible que se sienta abrumada, y aunque es reacia a pedir ayuda, quiero crear un espacio donde las personas puedan apoyarla durante este momento tan difícil. Estos fondos ayudarán con necesidades que quizás no estén completamente cubiertas por otras fuentes de ayuda.
