Support Arlington Youth Sports Recovery

We represent the Arlington Youth Sports Baseball and Softball programs in Arlington, Nebraska. Arlington is a town of around 1,300 people located on Highway 30 east of Fremont, about 20 minutes from Omaha.

On March 19, 2025, a massive blizzard struck our area. Unusually heavy and wet snowfall combined with sustained high winds throughout that day caused considerable damage in our area, including power outages, school and business closures, impossible road travel, property damage, and a huge disruption to all of our lives.

Notably affected was our baseball and softball complex, the RVR Bank Complex in Arlington, NE. The complex houses four fields in a quad-plex arrangement, with a centralized concessions/meeting/officials building. During the storm, three of our fields received catastrophic damage (shown in attached photographs), where the heavy snow and strong winds combined to completely destroy two backstop assemblies and a third field has been bent and is also unsafe for use.

We are working with our city officials and insurance companies, but with the beginning of our kids' baseball and softball seasons looming only a few weeks away we are concerned that extended negotiations on insurance assistance will cripple our chances of having fields ready for May season openers. We will already be behind without being able to practice pre-season on the fields. Moreover, if repairs could not be completed and we would be unable to host games (scheduled to start May 2nd) and collect the associated revenue from concessions, gate, etc., we fear we could lose the complex in its entirety. The estimated cost at this point sits around $170,000. This is currently the goal that we are looking at but will be updated once we hear from insurance on what they will be contributing.

Over 150 kids, ages 8U to 14U playing on 7 baseball and 6 softball teams, as well as our High School Softball program, depend upon this complex for practices and gameplay. It has been a jewel in our community for over 20 years; our visiting teams always rave about how nice our complex is and how they enjoy playing here. Now, the devastation from this storm could have prolonged effects on baseball and softball in our community if we are unable to work quickly in the next few weeks.
