Support Armand Crespo's Family after Eaton Fire Devastation

Donation protected
Hello, friends, family, and neighbors. This is Armand Crespo, Head Coach of Track & Cross Country at Pasadena High School and Director of FACT.

On January 10th, my dad turned 84 years old. His birthday was turned upside down as his home and the would-be inheritance of my siblings and I turned to ash. As so many of us in the Altadena community are experiencing right now, the sense of loss, despair, and trauma is impossible to express. I’m asking for your support to help lift some of this burden from us right now.

For a week before the fires, my step mom was in the hospital with pneumonia and emphysema. She is still there struggling to recover. The air quality has exacerbated my respiratory condition and I have now been diagnosed with bronchitis.

My parent’s home off Fair Oaks and Palm St completely burned down. Their tenant Jose and his three boys are now displaced. My parents were relying on this income and my siblings and I are now stripped of our would-be inheritance.

My home off Christmas Tree lane was miraculously spared, thanks to the efforts of my amazing athletes who came and helped keep away the embers. We were behind a forest county service truck and just incredibly lucky to not have been engulfed in flames. But almost all the houses around me were not as lucky and are now completely gone.

Even if clean water and power was restored to my home, which we have no idea when it will and when the national guard will leave, the smoke damage is so great that it’s not suitable for anyone, especially myself or my parents, to live in. We are living at my cousins currently but need to pay utilities and are faced with supporting my parents, general life expenses, and the eventual cost of restoring my home.

Currently, I’m only able to work part time at the store. My job as a coach at Pasadena High School and as the head of FACT is uncertain. So many of my athletes are devastated and I’m not sure when we will all be able to train together again.

As many of you know, I’m not one to ask for help and my parents DEFINITELY are not (I didn’t name them on this post because I know how proud they are), but I have humbled myself because I know so many of you would want to help me, my family, and our community.

We do not need any clothing or goods at the moment, just a jump start to help keep us financially stable. Whatever you can donate is greatly appreciated. No amount is too small.

I’m extremely focused and motivated to help rebuild our community but it’s going to be a long road and we need everyone’s support. I’ve already teamed up with Run with Us to print and sell “Dena Strong/Dena Love Shirts,” which will be used to raise funds for our athletes. As we move forward, we’ll be rallying around figures like Walt Butler and Skip Robinson to help bring the spirit back to Altadena.

We will survive this. We will rebuild this community and keep it the special diverse place I’ve cherished all my life.

Thank you for your help. Together, we will heal.
